PROF. ERHAN PİŞKİN

Prof. Erhan Pişkin is a professor of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering Departments at Hacettepe University. Founder of Bioengineering Programme. Director of  Biyomedtek. He is a “Full Member” of Turkish Academy of Sciences and Member of Science Board of TÜBİTAK. He is in the Editorial Board of several journals (5 international and 3 national). His awards include TÜBİTAK-Junior Scientist Award (1981); C.P.Sharma International Award in Biomedical Engineering (1997); Hacettepe University-Science Award (1999); TÜBİTAK-Science Award (2000). He has more than 250 scientific papers in internationally cited journals + about 20 chapters in books + more than 200 presentations in international and national meetings + editor/author of 10 Books (6 in English and 4 in Turkish). His citations are over two thousand. He has supervised more than 35 Ph.D. and 70 MSc. theses in the last 20 years. He is supervising 15 graduate students. He has organized 12 International and 3 National meetings in Turkey. His main research interests are: polymeric biomaterials (mostly biodegradable) and tissue engineering (recently with stem cells); gene transfer with nonviral polymeric vectors; QCM, AFM and SPR based biosensors and array technologies (recently for pathogenic microorganisms); bioaffinity separation, diagnostic test kits and drug delivery based on polymeric carriers. He has coordinated several projects.  He is a partner of several research projects including the FP6-NoE: Expertissues which is on Tissue Engineering and Cranirare: E-Rare: An integrated clinical and scientific approach for craniofacial malformotions and COST B28 on array technologies for pathogenic microorganisms.
